Christmas Eve 2010

Though “eve” implies night,
today we call “Christmas eve.”
We look to the eve
for tonight is the night of nights,
    today...tonight the light envelopes the darkness

Angels,
    Shepherds,
        A mother with child
            A father watches, meek and mild
                ...and we receive.

‘Tis love that came.
‘Tis love that comes.
‘Tis love that is given for you and for me.
                ...we receive.

Does this mean that like any other gift we give something back?
Yes and No.

THIS gift is for us
    no strings attached
        We receive it openly and with joy,
            The expectation and hope is to simply accept it.

And yet, when He comes into our hearts and lives,
    He changes everything.
        We are filled to overflowing...

In receiving, we give...
    or better,
        God gives God’s greatest gift to the world,
            even through us...

LOVE, Love, love...

    The Christ, God’s gift.

        God’s answer...
